On a
brisk autumn afternoon, the Wild Boars fended off a strong challenge
from Loomis Chaffee to clinch their sixth consecutive Founders League championship in boys' cross country. The
varsity top five earned All-Founders League honors by finishing among the
fastest fifteen in the meet. Frank DiVittorio '04 emerged as the
individual champion, following in the footsteps of such illustrious
predecessors as David Buck '86, Charles Bieler '94, Jonathan Hamilton '98,
Clay Schwabe '98, and Patrick Martha '01. The Choate boys now have won the
state crown a record nine times: more than the victories by all other
League schools combined. The Choate junior varsity prevailed in this meet for the seventh straight year. Dillon Smith '03 delivered an impressive victory, outkicking another harrier in the final 300 meters of the course. Fifth formers--and first year runners--Ean Saberski and Drew Marvinsmith also finished among the top five in the JV race, with seniors Chetan Huded and Stephen Abbott just behind to seal the win for the Wild Boars. |
