As Far As You Know

I don't usually lose much sleep over Green Bay's football fortunes, but since the Redskins moved to D.C. in the 1930s, the outcome of Washington's last home game has accurately predicted whether or not the incumbent party will keep the White House. A win for the 'Skins would have been good news for Bush. The final score yesterday: Packers, 28-14.

I am SO excited about today's election. Woke up early--before 6 a.m.--and have been sampling the morning papers, TV news, and the Internet. It's looking pretty good for John Kerry; check this out. The lines for voting in Florida are amazing. OK, I am off to cast my ballot.

Before labor organizer Joe Hill was murdered in 1915 by a firing squad in the yard of the Utah State Penitentiary, he exhorted his supporters, "Don't mourn, organize!"

The new teaser trailer for Episode III: The Revenge Of The Sith is on the Internet (at least for AOL members). Looks pretty cool.

After the passage of the Sedition Act in 1798, Thomas Jefferson wrote these words:

As I write these words, I am enjoying an advance preview of the forthcoming U2 album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. This is good stuff--on a par with 2001's All That You Can't Leave Behind.

I saw this--in English--as an advertisement outside a bookstore while in Kyoto, Japan and thought it was pretty cool:
